I believe it's the powderpost beetles, however I'm now seeing a ton of these bees! They too seem to carry a white substance.its like the texture of gum. Is it the beetle or wasp/bee causing the damage?vailjeanniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02979521936927840170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2886700853255525969.post-7805468327365311642017-09-14T19:17:05.251-05:002017-09-14T19:17:05.251-05:00Number one, I never give pest control advice. We have treated the logs with borate and have put a semi transparent stain and a sealer on them. But the problem continues. Hard as we tried we cannot seal those teenie holes and they just keep going back to them. In some cases boring through the heavy coating. Is there anything else we can do? The holes were filled a larvae with 6+ spiders (some seemed alive, maybe they all were but paralyzed) and then plugged with what looked like an off-white plaster. Once I saw the wasp arrive with a whitish wet blob of stuff in her mouth that I'm guessing was to plaster another hole.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07369323708479965308noreply@blogger.com
